We only get Today

Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ “For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
(Mathew 6:31-34)

While sitting in the prayer room this morning I decided to run home and have breakfast with the family I live with. They usually get up at 7:30 am so I ran home and made myself a nice hot cup of tea and went upstairs (I live in the basement apartment).

When I knock on the door there was no answer and I started to worry that maybe they did not have school today and I would not be able to see them. As I was just about to go back down and come back to the prayer room, I heard one of the boys bounding down the stairs. I knock again and heard the familiar “come in”.

His mom stated that Bennett had to practice his lines for the school play, so I had the great honor of being able to help him practice his lines. We had a great time coming up with ways for him to remember the lines and just goofing around in saying them in funny voices. What a great morning I had!

When I got back to the prayer room the above verse comes to mind. I sometimes find myself worry so much about tomorrow and what will happen if my house does not sell, will have enough money or strength to carry on. Should I stay or should I go back to work. I always seem to be thinking and worry about tomorrow.

Yet this morning I received from Jesus exactly what I needed. I got to spend some time helping a ten year boy learn his lines. In the great scheme of things in this world it was not really important, but to Jesus in was at the top of His list for me to be able to do this.

What a great God I have in Jesus who always seems to know exactly what I need and when I need it. I just need to trust that the house will sell when it is supposed to sell. I have done everything I can to get it sell it is now up to Jesus and I just need to seek Him in this and in all things.

Jesus I love you and thank you for today!
